Subject Matter Research

After deciding upon the fable of the Scorpion and the Frog, I found some images I could use. iIt was important that they clearly depict the animals and work as silhouettes. As an additional symbol I have decided to incorporate the flower nightshade into the composition. Nightshade is a symbol for deceit and betrayal which is central to the theme of the story.

Before beginning my to scale design work I sketched out some rough compositional ideas and played with the  idea of incorporating text into the piece.
