I really like the contradictions in Faireys work. The lines between "high" and "low" art, the exhibition spaces of the gallery and the street and the borders between art and design are very blurred by him. Also his persona and perceived political agenda add to the artists image. I often question whether he is a fantastic self marketer and is this part of his practice. Personally I believe it can be argued that marketing and celebrity are are art form in themselves and that artists can exploit this through social media and being present in the public eye. His rise in fame is really interesting and the populist messages in his works are very engaging. Personally I visually love the vintage pop images he uses and the limited colour palettes. His layer of imagery add depth and the repetition and reproduction of appropriated imagery influences my own work.
